It has been said that the Park is the City and the City is the Park. It is often difficult to see where one ends and the other begins. Being an urban park, Lowell National Historical Park is a partner in many activities and events in the city of Lowell. I invite you to experience this unique park and the many events happening in Lowell this year.
Begin your visit by getting information and orientation at the Visitor Center, experience the roar of the power looms in the Boott Cotton Mills Museum, glimpse the social lives of millworkers at the Mill Girls & Immigrants Exhibit, and see how industrialization changed the Merrimack River at the brand new River Transformed Exhibit. Learn more about Lowell’s water -powered history by taking one of our interpretive, ranger -guided tours using the park trolleys and boats.
This year we proudly celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Lowell Folk Festival. Both the Lowell Folk Festival and the Lowell Summer Music Series at Boarding House Park promise to please audiences of all ages.
Families with children will enjoy the many offerings available for school-aged children; Free Fun for Kids at Boarding House Park, Lowell NHP’s Junior Ranger Program, the Boott Family Discovery Trail, and the Children’s Corner in the Visitor Center.
Come out and enjoy the many multicultural festivals happening throughout the city such as the African Festival, Children’s Day in Lowell -Dracut -Tyngsboro State Forest, or the Southeast Asian Water Festival.
Enjoy the Park and enjoy the City!
